Kobie T. West is President and CEO of the West
Insurance Group. West is the largest minority owned
full service insurance agency in the United States.
West Group is the parent company for West Insurance
Agency, Inc., Watlington & Cooper Insurance, Urban
Underwriters Insurance Agency, West Financial Services
Group, Knight Insurance Agency, and the Chapman
Insurance Agency. As chief executive officer of
West and its subsidiaries, Mr. West is responsible
for the overall management, marketing, operations
and finance of the entire organization.
For over 15 years, Mr. West has built and guided
West Insurance Group to its current status of $120
Million in annual sales with offices in Boston,
Chicago and Philadelphia. He has developed a multi
agency strategy to offer products and services to
all clients including non-profits, Fortune 500 companies
and governmental entities. West Insurance Group’s
product offerings include; risk management analysis,
insurance brokerage, pension fund management, and
employee benefit solutions.
Mr. West is also the head of the national accounts
division which boasts clients such as Comcast Corporation,
Reebok International, Philadelphia Housing Authority,
City of Philadelphia, Southeastern Pennsylvania
Transportation Authority (SEPTA), Massachusetts
Housing Finance Agency, Housing and Urban Development
(HUD) and some of the largest Labor Unions in the
country.
He has received numerous awards and national
recognition for his work at Urban Underwriters including
the prestigious Boston Black & White Coming Together
Award given by the mayor of Boston for creating
economic development. In addition to his professional
endeavors, Mr. West has also managed to dedicate
himself to community service through volunteerism
and fundraising for local and national causes that
he holds dear.
Mr. West serves on several committees and boards
including the YMCA and the Philadelphia Local Initiatives
Corporation. As an expert in his field, he leads
numerous insurance seminars and has accepted many
invitations to speak at various colleges and universities.
He received a B.S. in Business Management from Peirce
College in Philadelphia and is presently pursuing
an MBA at Drexel University.
